A Call to Knitting Needles!

Be part of a creative project celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Royal National Lifeboat institution. Knit a Peggy Braithwaite beanie to be displayed and sold to raise funds for the RNLI.

‘Sea Like a Mirror’ is a national programme honouring 200 years of the RNLI. Artist Maddi Nicholson’s artwork ‘Above and Beyond’ is a tribute to the work of the RNLI and Peggy Braithwaite, and will incorporate your beanie!

We can provide wool or needles if needed. We have three similar hat patterns to chose from, each for a different weight wool or type of needles. At Art Gene we wish to be as sustainable as possible, and so we ask that you reuse any suitable yarn you have at home. If new, wherever possible, please choose sustainable materials like wool or recycled yarn. Deadline for hat drop off is Thursday 8th May, at Art Gene, Old Technical College, Bath Street Entrance, Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, LA14 5TY. You can also post to this address.
