Community Open Day, Saturday 6 June 12 – 4pm

Join Art Gene on Saturday 6 June at Allotment Soup: The Isle of Walney Community Growing Space for our open day in celebration of Great Big Green Week. The event is free and all are welcome.

Drop in anytime; we have a range of activities happening in this order from noon (no experience necessary; materials provided):
  • Introductory tour of the site and new orchard – Maddi Nicholson, Art Gene
  • Big Up Barrow! Printmaking with artist Tom Phillipson, Art Gene – practice block printing with a newly designed logo promoting Barrow’s green future
  • What’s Happening at Earnse? presented by Ros Campbell (Natural England) – get an update on plans for a new beach school and activity programme
  • Hapa Zome printing workshop with Rachael Barker, Art Gene
  • Birds in Green Spaces survey guided by Amelie Pohl, RSPB – contribute to this important national recording initiative
  • Knock together your own bird boxes with Clinton Rimmer, Art Gene
3pm Join us for tea and scones and a chat with neighbours
Activities may overlap. Some will take place in our large polytunnels in the event of rain. Pop in to say hello.
